Max's Chocolate Chicken is a 1991 short film produced by Weston Woods animation, the second-ever film animation to see Rosemary Well's characters Max and Ruby. It follows a 1988 short before the 2000s TV series.

The short was released March 29, 1991 and directed by Michael Spoon. It stars in a voice cast Clayelle Dalferes and Christopher Scott. It would be adapted into a TV episode later.

Plot[]

Just as the previous short, the story is narrated as a bedtime story. An Easter bunny leaves a chocolate chicken in the bird bath, and Max say,s "I love you" to it, but Ruby stops him and wants to hunt for the eggs. Chocolate chicken goes to who gets the most eggs. Max only finds a mudhole, and Ruby, despite her efforts, can't get him away from it and she finds the most eggs. Max plays with ants as Ruby finds eggs in the bush and over the yard. She counts them. Max steals the chicken and hides, to eat it in peace. He ate the tail first, then the head and finishes it off, as Ruby searches, beckoning to share with him if she finds it. Soon, they find a Chocolate Goose in the bird bath, repeating the same thing.

  • Max and Ruby wouldn't be animated again until over a decade later, in 2002.
