Ruby: (The title card appears.) Max Misses the Bus. (The episode starts at Max's toy rocket flying around the house.)
Ruby: (She notices the rocket and gasps.) Woah! Max, hurry up! We have to go now!
Max: Stay home!
Ruby: No, Max. (Ruby opens the curtain.) You can't stay home. We're going to Louise's on the bus. It's going to be here any- (The bus drives pass Max and Ruby's house without stopping.) minute. (Ruby stops and thinks.) I better go check the bus schedule and find out when the next bus is. (Max is playing with his toy rocket.) You need to stop playing with your Ear-Splitter Space Rocket and get ready to go! (Ruby walks away. Max lands his rocket. The scene cuts to the kitchen. Ruby walks in. She walks to the refrigerator, which has the bus schedule on it.)
Ruby: Next bus is in... two minutes! (Ruby gasps.) I'll just call Louise and let her know we're on a later bus. (The scene goes back to the living room. Ruby enters it. Max's rocket flies above her.)
Ruby: Max, you're still playing! We have to go!
Max: Stay home!
Ruby: You can't stay home, Max. We're going to Louise's. (Ruby dials Louise's phone number. Louise answers.) Hi, Louise. It's Ruby! We missed the bus! Yes. But there's another bus in two minutes and we'll be on that one. (Max is still playing with his toy rocket.) Okay, bye! (Ruby hangs up. She notices Max still playing and gasps.) Max! (Ruby turns off Max's toy.) Okay, Max. You can take you Ear-Splitter Space Rocket with you to Louise's. (Ruby picks up Max's toy and walks away. Max smirks. Ruby gets her purse.)
Ruby: I have my purse, and just enough money for two tickets. (Max is playing with his ambulance off-camera. Ruby notices and gasps. The ambulance is racing around the floor.) Woah! Hurry, Max! Or we'll miss the bus! (Max picks up his ambulance and turns it off.) I've got your Ear-Splitter Space Rocket. Now let's go outside and wait for the bus.
Max: Stay home!
Ruby: Max, we have to leave right now or we'll miss the next- (The bus drives past Max and Ruby's house.) bus. (Ruby stops and thinks.) I better call Louise again. (Ruby puts down Max's rocket and goes to the telephone. She dials Louise's number and she answers.) Hi, Louise. It's me again. Yes, I'm sorry, but we missed another bus! I know. But we'll catch the next one, I promise. (In the background, Max is playing with his ambulance.) Okay, bye! (Ruby hangs up and sees Max playing with the ambulance.) Okay, Max. You can take your Rescue-Ranger Emergency Ambulance and your Ear-Splitter Space Rocket over to Louise's. But we have to hurry. The next bus is coming soon! Now you wait here while I check the schedule. (Ruby walks over to the kitchen. Max then smirks and walks away. The scene cuts to the bus schedule.)
Ruby: Good! We have plenty of time to catch the next one! (The scene goes back to the door. Ruby runs towards it and sees no Max. She picks up his toys.)
Ruby: Okay, Max. I have your Ear-Splitter Space Rocket. And I have your Rescue-Ranger Emergency Ambulance. And I have my purse with money for the bus tickets. Let's go.
Max: Stay home! (He is seen playing with his dump truck and his fire truck. He bangs them together.)
Ruby: Okay! You can bring your Rock-Crusher Dump Truck and your Fire Truck too. You can bring whatever you want. Just hurry! (Max walks over, carrying his toys.) Alright, Max. I better get a tote bag to put all this in. Don't go anywhere, Max! (Ruby walks away. Max sees the bus driving away.)
Max: Bus. (Ruby goes back in the room.)
Ruby: Oh no! We missed another one! Now I'll have to check the schedule again! (The scene cuts to the bus schedule.)
Ruby: There's only one more bus. We have to catch that one! (The scene goes back to Max. Ruby comes in, bringing a tote bag.)
Ruby: Okay, Max. I'm packing your Ear-Splitter Space Rocket, and your Rescue-Ranger Emergency Ambulance, and your Rock-Crusher Dump Truck, and your Fire Truck, even your Red-Rubber Elephant. Now let's go catch that bus!
Max: Stay home!
(The scene cuts to outside. Ruby walks outside to the bus stop, but realizes Max isn't with her.)
Ruby: Max!
(Max is seen inside.)
Ruby: Come out and close the door! Hurry!
(Max sighs. Reluctantly, he closes the door and follows Ruby to the bus stop.)
Ruby: I can't believe we're finally going to catch the bus to Louise's!
(Ruby sees the bus.)
Ruby: Oh, good. Here comes the bus! Now I'll just get the money out for our tic...!
(Ruby realizes she forgot her purse and gasps.)
Ruby: Oh no! My purse! I left it inside! You wait there, Max. I'll be right back!
(Ruby runs back inside. Max sees the bus.)
Max: Bus!
Ruby: Wait! Wait!
(Ruby runs back outside and sees the bus.)
Ruby: Oh, good.
(She closes the door. Unfortunately, the bus drives away.)
Ruby: (runs after the bus and says a big, long, "No") NO!
(Ruby --after saying this-- tries to force the bus driver to stop the bus so she and Max can get on. But the bus goes away fast. Ruby then covers her eyes. That is, burying her face in disappointment. And she says...!)
Ruby: (crying) That was the last bus, Max!
(Then she takes her hands off her eyes.)
Ruby: (sadly) Now we can't go to Louise's and play!
Louise: Hi, Ruby!
(Ruby sees Louise and gasps.)
Ruby: Louise! What are you doing here?
Louise: I got tired of waiting, so I decided to take the bus here.
Ruby: That's great!
Louise: We're going to have so much fun!
(Ruby and Louise jump up and down and laugh. Max takes out his toy ambulance.)
Ruby: What do you want to do?
Max: Stay home!
(Max sits on the ground and plays with his ambulance. Ruby and Louise laugh as the episode ends.)
